Booking a session
Bookings can be made by contacting Wessex Forest School via the contact form on the Home page, justinegoodwin@wessexforestschool.co.uk or by phoning 07842 810681.
School and residential home bookings will be confirmed by email, individual bookings will be confirmed on receipt of a booking form which will be emailed following enquiry.
Bookings for preschool and home school sessions are for blocks of 4 weeks. This is to ensure the reliability of the weekly sessions for yourselves and other attendees. If, after the first session only, you decide it isn't for you, a refund of the remaining sessions will be provided.
Payment for school and residential bookings will be invoiced at the agreed terms.
Payment for individual bookings must be made by bank transfer at least 48 hours before the first session to secure a place.
A parent or carer must be present with their child at all times during preschool or home school sessions.
Cancellation
In the event of unforeseen circumstances or extreme weather conditions such as high winds or thunderstorms, sessions may need to be rearranged by Wessex Forest School. In the unlikely event this is not possible you will be refunded for the missed session.
If you are unable to attend your preschool or home school session due to illness or holiday, unfortunately the cost is non-refundable. This is to ensure the session can still go ahead for others in the group.
Refunds will only be given if a block is cancelled by an individual after the initial session, and at least 48 hours before the second session.
Medical and allergy information
For individual bookings, if you/your child suffers from any allergies or medical conditions then it is vital that you indicate it on the booking form when you book onto our sessions so that we can plan accordingly.
It is your responsibility to ensure that your child does not come into contact with anything that may cause him/her to suffer an allergic reaction. If you have any concerns about allergies and intolerances then please contact us to discuss – we are generally able to adapt our sessions and materials to accomodate!
Suitable Clothing
To ensure the children have a positive experience at forest school, they must be suitably dressed. Sessions go ahead in all but the most extreme weather and there may be limited shelter.
Please ensure they come dressed to enjoy mud and water play without any worries about getting dirty or cold. This means old clothes and waterproof layers with changes of clothes available if necessary.
In winter suggested clothing includes winter boots or snow boots rather than wellies which can be very cold. If this is not possible, adding bubble wrap around feet inside the wellies can help. Hats, gloves and thick trousers under waterproof trousers, warm jumpers and coats are essential. It is easy to take layers off, but miserable if you don't have enough. Spare socks are often needed.
In summer there may be thistles, brambles and stingling nettles in areas where the children play, so lightweight long trousers and tops are recommended along with sunhats and suncream. No open toed footwear.
Photography
You are welcome to take pictures or videos of your children during the session provided it doesn't interfer with the activities. In addition please always be sensitive of taking pictures of others without their permission. Please ensure that you only take photographs of your own child or seek permission from a parent/carer before taking any photos including any children other than your own.
In a group session, taking photos may inevitably involve other children being in the background. If you are taking photographs in one of our sessions, please do not share photographs of children other than your own on social media – there may be reasons why a particular child must not be included in photographs in this way.
If you are asked to stop taking photographs, please do respect the rights of others.
